# Three New Cognitive Assessments: Spatial, Deductive & Mechanical Reasoning

Cognitive ability is the single strongest predictor of job performance across every industry and role type — stronger than personality, stronger than experience, stronger than interviews. Bryq's library just got sharper at measuring it.

We've added three new assessments to the Cognitive Attributes family:

## Deductive Reasoning

Can they draw the right conclusion from the information in front of them? This assessment measures logical reasoning — following rules, spotting valid inferences, and rejecting conclusions that *sound* right but aren't supported by the facts. Critical for roles involving analysis, compliance, diagnostics, or any decision made from incomplete information.

## Mechanical Reasoning

Do they understand how physical systems work? This tests intuition for forces, leverage, gears, pulleys, and basic mechanics — the kind of practical problem-solving that predicts success in technical, operational, and hands-on roles, regardless of formal engineering background.

## Spatial Reasoning

Can they mentally manipulate shapes and structures? This measures the ability to visualize objects in two and three dimensions — rotating, folding, and fitting pieces together in your head. It's a strong signal for design, engineering, logistics, and any role requiring spatial planning or visualization.

## Why add these now

Cognitive ability isn't one thing — it's a bundle of distinct capabilities, and different roles lean on different ones. A logistics coordinator and a compliance analyst might both need "strong reasoning," but they need different kinds. These three assessments let you screen for the specific cognitive strengths a role actually demands, instead of relying on a single general score.

They join Bryq's existing Cognitive Attributes tests, giving talent teams finer-grained tools to build validated, role-specific profiles.
